Adams Ranch is an outstanding example of how stewardship of the land within a working cattle ranch serves to enhance the natural environment as part of a profitable agricultural operation. It is the very way in which the family has managed the land and the cattle operations that has been at the heart of sustaining the balance of the natural environment. From the types of grasses planted on the ranch to the way the cattle graze and help prevent wildfires, the protection and conservation of the land is inextricably linked to the ranching operation.

The Adams Ranch is a successful agricultural enterprise amidst increasing uncertainties and challenges throughout Florida's agricultural industry. Just as important, Adams Ranch is also an environmental, cultural and historical treasure in St. Lucie County. The Ranch is a beloved and irreplaceable resource to the community and to the region. Protection and conservation of the Adams Ranch will continue a way of life that is rapidly disappearing.

Family Lands Remembered, the facilitator of the Adams Ranch Stewardship Program, is providing St. Lucie County with an opportunity to achieve progress in its long term, strategic planning objectives with respect to agriculture and growth. The Stewardship Program will help the County take action on its commitment to protecting natural lands while providing support to rural landowners, farmers and ranchers.

Adams Ranch provides multiple benefits to present and future generations of citizens of St. Lucie County and the Treasure Coast region.

The Adams Ranch Stewardship project is being presented as a pilot project, covering approximately 23,000 acres of rural lands, pursuant to Florida's Rural Lands Stewardship Program. The Stewardship Project will be reviewed by St. Lucie County and through public hearings, and then by the Florida Department of Community Affairs.
